Post to all social media at once: the tools that do it, and the API way

By Antoine Blanco··7 min read

You can post to several social accounts from one scheduler or API, provided it supports your platforms, account types and media. Each destination still processes its own publication. This guide compares eight tools using official prices and documentation checked on September 15, 2026, including free limits and extra X costs.

What "post to all social media at once" really means

One action can submit several publications, but it does not guarantee that they all go live together. For example, PlugKit's publishing guide documents separate results for each target, including partial success when one destination fails. Check delivery status before retrying a batch.

Count accounts separately from networks. Two Instagram accounts consume two account slots. Also check whether the tool publishes directly or sends a reminder for you to finish in the native app. Later documents both workflows, depending on the destination and features you need.

The tools that post to all social media at once

These are USD entry prices checked on September 15, 2026. Annual figures are monthly equivalents with yearly billing. Taxes, extra seats and usage charges can change the total.

Tool Entry price and billing Accounts included Main consideration
Buffer Essentials: $5/channel/month equivalent, $60/channel billed yearly 1 paid channel at that price Queue, calendar and API access
Publer Professional: from $5/month, billed monthly 1 account; additional accounts listed at $4/month Account and team-member charges are separate
Later Starter: $18.75/month equivalent, $225/year 1 social set: 8 profiles, one per supported network 30 scheduled posts/profile/month; X is not listed
Hootsuite Standard: from $99/user/month, billed annually Up to 10 accounts Team approvals require Advanced
Postiz Hosted Standard: $29/month 5 channels Self-hosting is a separate option
Zernio $6/account-month for the first 10 units, before credit $12 monthly account credit Daily proration; X usage charged separately
Ayrshare Premium: $149/month, billed monthly 1 social profile for your own brand Multiple customer profiles require a different plan
PlugKit Creator: $29/month, billed monthly 5 connected accounts REST API and MCP; extra X usage

Later's social set cannot be filled with eight Instagram accounts. Ayrshare's profile groups a brand's accounts across networks; its Launch plan starts at $299/month for up to 10 profiles. Publer's calculator includes volume discounts, so multiplying every account by the $5 headline price gives the wrong estimate.

For five non-X accounts connected for 30 days, Zernio's base charge is 5 × $6 - $12 = $18. Its billing guide applies graduated rates to aggregated account-days, then deducts a monthly credit; connecting or disconnecting mid-month changes the total. PlugKit Creator and hosted Postiz Standard each cost $29/month for five accounts. This compares account charges only, without extra users or metered services.

Buffer is the cleanest queue interface I have used.

Post to all social media at once for free

Three hosted options have ongoing free allowances on their official pages:

Postiz self-hosting removes the software subscription, but you supply hosting, maintenance and platform credentials or approvals. Platform API bills may remain. It is not a hosted free plan, and it does not automatically become a paid subscription after three accounts.

Choose using your actual destinations and posting volume. A limited queue can handle ongoing work if you refill it; a temporary evaluation period is not an ongoing free allowance.

Social media cross posting: what breaks per platform

Platform support does not imply support for every native format. These official API constraints were checked on September 15, 2026:

Platform What changes Practical rule
Instagram Publishing requires a professional account; API carousels allow up to 10 images/videos, with JPEG images Prepare a compatible asset set and check the required account connection
X Up to 4 photos, 1 animated GIF or 1 video Validate both upload and post creation; successful upload alone is insufficient
TikTok Its API supports photo posts as well as video Check the scheduler's integration: platform support alone does not guarantee photo support
YouTube Uploads videos; public visibility depends on settings and project approval Prepare a video file; a still image is not a video upload

For example, PlugKit's TikTok integration documents video publishing. Do not assume its integration exposes TikTok's photo endpoint. Preview captions, crops and destination settings before submitting a batch.

Best cross posting app depends on who clicks publish

Ask who presses the button, then pick.

I run the third and fourth. For the reasoning behind that split, see AI social media manager: human vs tool vs agent.

All in one social media app, or an API?

A scheduler can also expose an API. Buffer includes API access, and Publer lists it on Business. Choose the interface your workflow needs, then check the plan and operation limits.

PlugKit's publishing guide documents POST /v1/posts with a profile and multiple connected account IDs. You can publish immediately or schedule a post. Its MCP server exposes API capabilities to compatible assistants after authentication; write permission is needed to publish.

PlugKit's publishing guide explicitly documents LinkedIn posts to member profiles. WhatsApp is a messaging integration; TikTok and YouTube have video publishing and analytics but no private-messaging or comment-management integration. Check each required operation in the platform capability matrix rather than assuming that publishing support includes messaging.

The social media API guide covers platform APIs and aggregators. The rate limits reference helps identify quotas to check before scheduling a batch.

Budget separately for X API usage

X's official pricing, checked September 15, 2026, charges standard post reads at $0.005 per returned resource, ordinary post creation at $0.015 per request, and creation with a URL at $0.200. A request returning many posts is not necessarily one billable read. Eligible owned-data reads have a different rate.

PlugKit's billing documentation lists those standard operations as additional charges passed through without markup. Thus 100 ordinary publications cost $1.50, while 100 URL-containing publications cost $20, before reads and the subscription. These are arithmetic examples, not measured usage.

PlugKit documents opt-in background reads and a configurable spend cap. Check the remaining budget before a batch and resolve any billing error before retrying. Zernio also lists X usage separately. Check each provider's treatment of X instead of assuming the subscription covers it.

PlugKit is $29 a month for 5 connected accounts, cancel anytime. X API usage is billed separately.

FAQ

Can I post to all social media at once for free?

Within the free allowances above: Buffer and Publer cover 3 accounts, with X excluded from Publer Free; Zernio's monthly credit covers two accounts at the base rate for 30 days. Media restrictions, queue limits and metered services still apply. Self-hosted Postiz has separate operating costs.

What is the cheapest way to post to all social media at once?

Compare the total for your exact accounts, billing period and features. In the 30-day, five-account example above, Zernio's base account charge is $18 versus $29/month for PlugKit or hosted Postiz. That calculation does not establish which tool supports your workflow or include X usage.

Does posting the same thing everywhere hurt reach?

Posting the identical asset everywhere hurts because formats differ, not because platforms punish cross-posting. A vertical video with a TikTok watermark performs badly on Reels, a 900-word LinkedIn post truncated to 280 characters reads like an error. Customize per destination in the composer and the penalty disappears.

Can an AI agent post to all my accounts at once?

Yes, through a compatible REST API or authenticated MCP server, within the connected accounts' capabilities and granted permissions. PlugKit documents both interfaces. Set a review policy and inspect per-target results; connecting an assistant alone does not guarantee successful publication everywhere.

How many posts a day can I publish through an API?

Both platform and provider limits matter. Meta documents 100 API-published posts per Instagram account within a rolling 24-hour period, with a carousel counting as one post. Provider quotas, endpoint rate limits and account restrictions can reduce your usable volume.
