Later pricing in 2026: plans, limits and the cost per social set
Later bills per social set. A set is "one profile from each of Later's supported social platforms", so one business with Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and the rest counts as a single set of 8 profiles. On October 15, 2026 the published tiers run from $18.75 to $82.50 a month on annual billing. Here is the full grid.
The meter matters because it is unusual. Buffer counts channels, Metricool counts brands, Hootsuite counts accounts. Later counts sets of 8, which is cheap if you run one brand everywhere and expensive if you run six Instagram accounts and nothing else.
Later plans, October 15, 2026
Read from the Later pricing page today. All prices are the per-month rate when you commit to a year, which is how the page displays them by default; taxes are extra.
| Plan | Annual, per month | Social sets | Profiles | Users | Posts per profile | AI credits | Analytics history |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $18.75 | 1 | 8 | 1 | up to 30 | 5/month | up to 3 months |
| Growth | $37.50 | 2 | 16 | 2 | up to 180 | 50/month | up to 1 year |
| Scale | $82.50 | 6 | 48 | 4 | unlimited | 100/month | up to 2 years |
The page labels each annual price "3 months free, 25% off", which puts the monthly-billed rate at $25, $50 and $110. Later does not print those three numbers on the page, so treat them as the arithmetic of its own discount rather than a quoted figure.
The real later cost per profile
Dividing by what you actually connect is the only way to compare Later to tools that count differently.
| Plan | Cost per social set | Cost per profile |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $18.75 | $2.34 |
| Growth | $18.75 | $2.34 |
| Scale | $13.75 | $1.72 |
Starter and Growth cost exactly the same per set. Growth is not a volume discount, it is a second set plus a seat plus six times the post allowance. The only per-set discount in the grid is Scale, at 27 percent less per set than the tiers below it.
The post cap is the limit that bites
Starter allows up to 30 posts per profile. That sounds generous until you divide: 30 a month is one a day, and a single Instagram account posting a feed post plus a story twice a day is through its allowance in nine days. Growth's 180 per profile is the first number that supports a real cadence.
Two more ceilings worth knowing before you pick:
- Seats. Starter is one user. If a client or a VA needs to log in, you are on Growth.
- Analytics history. Three months on Starter. Year-on-year comparison needs Scale.
later plans: what Scale adds
Scale is where the analytics live, and it is priced as the top tier rather than as an agency plan. Over Growth it adds Meta Ads analytics, custom analytics, competitive benchmarking against up to 20 competitors, Brand Health and Brand Mentions, future industry insights, unlimited posts and priority support.
There is no separate agency or enterprise tier with a published price. The page pitches Scale as "Enterprise-level analytics, without the enterprise contract", and points agencies at extra social sets instead.
The four add-ons
Available on Growth and Scale only, which is another reason Starter is a trap for anyone growing. Prices read today:
| Add-on | Price |
|---|---|
| Extra social set | $11.25/month |
| Extra user | $3.75/month |
| 100 extra AI credits | $3.75/month |
An extra set at $11.25 is cheaper than the $18.75 a set inside Starter, so a Growth plan with two bought sets ($60 a month for 4 sets, $15 each) beats stacking Starter accounts. One AI credit produces 3 ideas or 1 caption, on every tier.
later cost compared with the alternatives
Prices for every tool below were read on its own pricing page on October 15, 2026. The units differ on purpose, because that is the actual choice.
| Tool | Entry price | Meter | Entry includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Later | $18.75/month annual | social set | 1 set, 8 profiles, 30 posts/profile |
| Buffer | $5/month per channel | channel | 1 channel, unlimited posts |
| Metricool | $25/month | brand | up to 5 brands, unlimited publishing |
| Hootsuite | from $99/month | account | 10 accounts, inbox, monitoring |
| PlugKit | $49 a month for 5 connected accounts | connected account | 5 accounts, API and MCP, every tool |
Read that table by shape, not by the smallest number. Buffer is cheapest for one or two channels and gets expensive past ten. Later is cheapest if your accounts come in neat sets of one per platform. Metricool is the value tier if you manage several brands. Hootsuite is priced for teams that need the inbox and listening.
PlugKit is the odd one out, and not always the answer: it is an API and a hosted MCP server, so it has no content calendar to drag posts around in. Pick it when an agent or your own code does the publishing, not when a human wants a visual planner. The detailed grids for the others are in Metricool pricing and the Hootsuite, Buffer, Later and Metricool alternatives roundup. If what you want is one post going to every platform at once, that mechanic is covered in post to all social media at once.
FAQ
How much does Later cost per month?
On October 15, 2026 the published annual rates are $18.75 for Starter, $37.50 for Growth and $82.50 for Scale, per month. The page shows annual billing by default and labels it 25 percent off, so monthly billing works out to $25, $50 and $110.
What is a social set in Later?
One profile from each platform Later supports, which is 8 profiles. A set is the billing unit, so connecting a second Instagram account consumes a second set even if you never use that set's other seven slots. This is the detail that decides whether Later is cheap or expensive for you.
Does Later have a no-cost option?
Not on the pricing page as of October 15, 2026. The three published tiers all carry a price, and Later directs new users to a trial instead. Third-party pages still describing a permanently costless Later tier are out of date.
Is Later cheaper than Buffer?
It depends entirely on how your accounts are shaped. Buffer at $5 per channel beats Later's $18.75 if you publish to one or two channels. Later wins the moment you connect 4 or more platforms for the same brand, because all 8 profiles sit inside a single set.
Can I use Later with an AI agent?
Not directly. Later is a calendar you work in, and its AI credits generate captions and ideas rather than exposing tools to an outside model. For an agent that publishes on its own, you need an API or an MCP server; the options are compared in social media MCP servers compared.
